One of the world's great dinosaur burial grounds is found in the badlands of the Red Deer River valley in southern Alberta. Meltwaters at the end of the Ice Age carved out the badlands to expose the fossils. Excavations began in the early 1900s with the Great Canadian Dinosaur Rush. About the Author
Renie Gross has lived in England, Germany, the United States and several Canadian provinces. In 1981, she returned to the area where she was raised, and now lives, with her husband, on the edge of the badlands of Dinosaur Provincial Park in southern Alberta. Curiosity about the dinosaurs, coupled with her strong response to the esthetics of the badlands, led her to research and write Dinosaur Country. The first edition was released in 1985.

Beyond Expectations

This is the best and most explicit book on where to locate fossils I have found for Alberta. Some of the locations are slightly off, use Google -- and you will be within a 1/4 to 1/2 mile of good hunting grounds. This is a fantastic book. I give it the highest accolades.

Strongly recommended for those who are interested in the history of paleontology as a discipline as it was advanced by amateurs and professionals alike in a specific geographic region.
