About the Author
DR. WILLIAM C. UY, a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois with a doctor of philosophy degree in chemical engineering, has been a research scientist for the DuPont Company at the world renowned Experimental Research Station in Wilmington, Delaware for over 30 years. He did his undergraduate studies at De La Salle College, and graduated with honors, "magna cum laude."

Dr. Uy holds over fifteen patented inventions. Being a scientist, his natural curiosity led him to investigate the mystery surrounding his own acquired hay fever and culminating in the discoveries described in this book. He is the author of over fifty scientific reports including over 35 pub-lications and presentations in professional meetings, journals and societies in the US, Australia, Canada and England.

I can breathe again!!!

After reading Dr. Uy's book and following his recommendations, I began to experience relief within one month. I am breathing freely, after suffering with sinus and allergy symptoms for the past 20 years. I am presently enjoying springtime medication-free without headaches or sinus congestion. I am very happy to have found something that works for me.

Healing from Allergy

This book, is interestingly written with a scientist's personal point of view. He gives many easy to implement tips that he has found useful by chronicling his own battle with allergies. I have horrible allergies and used to start each day with nosebleeds and nose blowing unless medicated. After following his suggestions on sleeping, caffeine and drinking, I can usually have an allergy free day. I found William Uy's book to be unique in that it takes a whole new approach to allergies, one that suggests you can help your body heal from allergies instead of relying on medications only.

UNIQUELY HELPFUL

After reading Dr. Uy's book and following his recommendations, I am presently experiencing my best month of May in 20 years. Typically during hay fever season, I need a variety of prescription medications to breath comfortably. This year has been different. I have not felt the need to take any pills or sprays. I hope this book helps those who read it, as much as it has helped me.

You only meet the mother and her family, Daddy is conspicuously absent

Is it too much to ask that books for kids about divorce present a decent view of BOTH parents, or, at the least, do not malign or ignore that father? In this book, the girl is at her mom's house, meets with her mom's mother (her grandmother) and we NEVER meet her father or his family. It would have been so easy to do half the tree with one family and then take the book to the other house and finish it there. What's so wrong with portraying dad in the book? I am returning this.

Excellent!!

As the mother of 6 children, which include "his, mine, ours and adopted", in a military family where growing up around our extended family wasn't possible, I wish this book had been available when my children were small. It's a warm, witty and wonderful way to explain extended and blended families to children. It also has an ingenious handle and space for the child to include within the pages favorite photos and small mementos to carry around, then they can pull it out and review the contents whenever they wish. To top all that off, it has a map and stickers so the child, with an adult's help, can put a sticker on each place in the world where someone lives who loves them. I LOVE the idea and the love that clearly shows through the writing. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

Finally a book that reflects and celebrates divesrse family structures!

I was incredibly impressed with this book. The story relevant to todays blended families and celebrates all who come in to our lives that create our family grown from Love.

This book is multi functional and interactive. Includes maps with stickers so the child can see where all their loved ones live. This also opens up the child's eyes to see how many in the world love and care for them. This book also has an area to put pictures of families and loved ones.

All with a handle to carry around!

This is a worthwhile book and gift.

My daughter will enjoy this book for many years to come.

John Franklin explored and charted Canada's arctic seacoast in 1819-1822, 1825-27, and 1845. On the first expedition he nearly starved and on the third he died. None of his men survived the third expedition, but the search for clues to their fate helped open up the North and his celebrated Canadian song and stories.

About the Author

John Wilson was born in 1951 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He did his early growing up on the Island of Skye and in Paisley, near Glasgow. From 1969 to 1974, he attended the University of St. Andrews where he took an Honours B.Sc.. in Geology and never played golf once. He took a position with the Geological Survey of Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). In his two years there, he mapped rocks, dodged land mines and watched the country sink ever deeper into civil war. Shortly before he was due to be called into the army, John retreated back to Britain on his way to the safety of Canada. He settled on Calgary where geology was booming and the only danger was freezing to death in January. In 1979, he moved to Edmonton to take up a post with the Alberta Geological Survey. In 1988 he sold a feature article to the Globe and Mail. This fueled a smouldering mid-life crisis and he took up freelance writing full-time. With some success, John mined the experiences of his travels for articles, journalism and photo essays. He even began to express himself poetically and, with a young family, began writing children's stories. He moved to Nanaimo and then Lantzville on Vancouver Island. John has been widely published by a number of Canadian presses, with his accolades including a shortlisting for the Governor General’s Award.

Easy read

Intriguing point brought up by the author, stating that the waterway on the east side of King William Island was too shallow for Franklin's ships. Would the usage of most of the coal before that time have resulted in the ships being higher out of the water- maybe enough to get on the east side? I wish the author would have more detail about this issue.

Interesting point, about Jane Franklin commissioning two sets of daguerreotypes aboard the Erebus. How many were taken in all?

Good overview collection. Easy and informative read.

This book is basically a collection of stories, myths, traditions, and methods presented by other authors. You'd have to read about ten different books to find the knowledge collected here. It does a good job of presenting a large amount of general information. In some cases it was beneficial to see the compare and contrast between various authors of old. This is a wonderful book if you are just beginning to learn about ancient Hawaiian culture. After reading this, if you want more specific information, you should go to Kamakau, Beckwith, Malo, I'i, Kaha'ulelio, Fornander and others.

Powerful insight on the book of Revelation

For forty years I've read and studied the Bible. Like many believers studying the book of Revelation has been something that I have done periodically over the years each time getting a little more understanding, or getting a bit more confused in spots. I've read it, pondered it's symbols, looked at the correspondences between the book of Daniel and Revelation. I've sent for and listened to CDs series on Revelation, and read books from evangelical perspectives, charismatic Christian perspectives, and from Messianic perspectives. Eliyahu ben David's insights on the book of Revelation are in a class of their own.
Some teachings such as, "Is the Lord's Day Sunday?" and Jesus as the Hebrew Alef/Tav (alpha and omega), and the fact that judgment comes to God's people first were old hat for me. Other understandings the Lord has given Eliyahu came as a shock, and a welcome one at that.
Eliyahu does the necessary historical research to put the book of Revelation in its proper Jewish apocalyptic perspective, and then adds insights that are beyond any I've found anywhere else. Both the original covenant Bible scriptures, and the New, or renewed, Covenant scriptures can only be fully understood from a Hebraic point of view, and one in which Jerusalem and Messiah's Kingdom are always key. Eliyahu restores this Hebraic perspective.
Visiting heaven's courtroom where the 24 elders preside is one of many examples of prophetic revelation that the Lord gave Eliyahu. He learned, as we do, that the 24 elders are the 12 patriarchs of the twelve tribes of Israel, and the twelve apostles who were given rulership over the 12 tribes during the millennium. This means the apostle John (Yohanan) was looking at himself with the others in the future when he describes this heavenly courtroom. The Lord dwells in eternity and time is a construct that He created for finite beings. The identity of these elders makes absolute sense. It fits the Biblical economy perfectly. This insight is only one of many in Judgment Day: The Messianic Revelation Series. Understanding the mystery of the Four Horseman from a Biblical point of view rather than from guesswork adds substance I'd never appreciated before. There are insights I never grasped about the centrality of Jerusalem and Israel in this book.
I recommend this book to anyone who has an open mind to understand the Word of God, and take a peak at the future, for truly, the Lord knows the end from the beginning.

Revelation is no longer impossible to understand!

I have heard many interpretations of the book of Revelation and attempted many times to read it myself but it always ended up sounding like something out of science fiction movie. It seemed the more I read and listened to all the views of so called experts the more confused I became. I am so grateful that someone has been able to change that and I am now able to not only understand but see how easy it should have been all alone. Eliyahu ben David knows how to take the science fiction out with his Hebraic look at Revelation. It all comes together now and as soon as you read it you know it is the truth! It is truly an amazing book!

Anyone that finds themselves wondering and worrying about the way things are in the world today will benefit from reading this book. The Book of Revelation has long been presented as something far off in a dire future. The future is now and it's time to see what's going on from a Hebraic perspective and not from those disconnected from the roots of our Jewish Messiah. This book won't confuse you with rhetoric or overwhelm you with frightening misinformation. It will help you to prepare yourself and your loved ones for the greater Exodus. Read it. Study it out in the Scriptures and then share it with everyone you know. You won't regret it.

SIMPLY THE BEST!

As an Instructor of Hypnosis, I not only read this wonderful book, but it is also on my required reading list for my college students. Never before have I seen such a comprehensive text written on hypnotherapeutic practices that is so well written even one with no knowledge of Hypnotherapy can relate to it as well as understand the techniques. Hogan should be proud to accept his position beside such modern Hypnosis greats as such as Rossi, Cheek, and Erickson among others. The Time Track piece is simply amazing.

Basic and Advanced Hypnosis

The New Hypnotherapy Handbook was one of my textbooks for Kevin Hogan's hypnosis certification training. I particularly liked this book because it offers a model of hypnotherapy, a number of useful scripts, and solutions to dealing with difficult problems in hypnosis.
First, the model. CARPETS is Hogan's anacronym for Case Analysis, Regression, Parts/Ego State, Time Track Therapy and Suggestive Therapeutics. The highlight of the model is the Time Track Component. Never have I seen such a beautiful piece of work in the field of hypnosis. What you learn is how to weave a clients past and future positive resources into their present day state of mind. This modality alone is worth the ... price of the book.
The discussion of ethical issues, case analysis and legal issues is first rate. The details of regression are sketchy at first but made clear later in the book when his co-authors give verbatim transcripts of their session work. The ego state therapy is better described in Ego States by Watkins, but the treatment is sufficient. The specialty chapters on Emergency Hypnosis, Past Life Regression and even UFO abductions are tantalizing and always prefaced with cautions of ethical use and careful handling of the client.
This book started off a bit clumsily and then by Chapter Two it was clear it was one of the finest books on hypnosis I have read.
The New Hypnotherapy Handbook is a wonderful book for the advanced beginner and the seasoned practitioner.

If you are a hypnotherapist who wants to really help people create permanent change this book is a must - period.
I own and have read, highlighted and reread the original Hypnotherapy Handbook. The pages are tattered because the concepts keep displaying deeper levels of understanding each time I read it.
Wow, despite that, I have gleamed even more insights from reading this one.
As I said above, if you want to really help people, buy and study this book.

About the Author
Dr. Ruth Simkin grew up in a wonderful, warm, large, Jewish family, where the traditional holidays were celebrated. As she grew older, she began searching for a reflection of her own life, as a Jewish lesbian, in the more traditional celebrations. Since those reflections were not obviously there, she created them. She encourages women to make up meaningful rituals which incorporate the old and the new, the traditional and the radical, the familiar and the courageous. She takes great pleasure in celebrating her lesbian feminist views of her Jewishness and in sharing them with her family and friends.
