From the Author
Humobile started out as a small booklet for the average person at home faced with not knowing what to do for their sick or injured loved one or family member. While I was writing the booklet, a few of my nursing students asked me if they could have a copy of the booklet because they needed help with understanding the basic nursing/care giving skills. Before I knew it, it turned into a more than a booklet, it was Humobile! I found myself lecturing in the book as if I was teaching a class or a client. And because of the easy terminology, the general ideas were easier for them to grasp and I would plug in the medical terminology later.
About the Author
As a child, I was always fixing boo-boos on my cats and dogs, and of course on my baby dolls. And before I knew it, I was fixing boo-boos on babies - -real babies-- And they were mine! I always liked role-playing as a nun or as a nurse when I was a child, but the nun part went right out the window the day I discovered boys--but I never lost my interest in caring for people! I started out as a volunteer for our elite senior citizens in the community when my children were in school, then I became a Personal Care Aide (PCA) in the community and I really enjoyed it. I made $3 or $3.50 an hour way back then. That little job as a PCA made realize that I could do more! I figured that if I could do that, well then, I can become a Nursing Assistant (NA), and I did! I went on to become a Nurse Tech while in college, then a License Practical Nurse, and eventually a Registered Nurse, and I hold a NY State Private Teacher's License. Today, I hold a PhD. in Naturology (Non-Medical Preventative & Natural Health). Currently I am the owner and Director of RN Teaching Services, for Healthy Lifestyles and Weight Management, and the Director of Patient Services for Fadmo of Staten Island. I am an Associate of the Willsey Institute of S.I., NY. My experiences as an RN director and Supervisor, Nursing Instructor and In-service Speaker, along with teaching clinical skills in local hospitals and nursing homes has brought me a world of knowledge and so much pleasure being able to teach and assist others safely. And I would like to bring my experiences to you!

No home nurse/aid worker should be with out this book!!!

I use it as a reference guide daily regarding my private nursing duties. I have my clients read it while I am attending to them and encourage conversation as to their home care. This book gives my clients more of an understanding as to what is needed for their nursing needs. It gives them choices to discuss with me and together, my clients and I work together on picking the best treatment for them. This book as helped me alot with my job and I think has sparked some healthy interaction between my clients and I. No Home nurse should be with out it.

Good Stuff

I am a college student and now have the responsibility of caring for my Nana after her stroke. Nana is paralyzed from the mouth down and it has not been easy for me. I have very limited medical skills. I found this book easy to read and provided me alot of information that has helped me and my sister give better care to Nana. Taking care of a sick grandmother is not easy. If this book can help me do a better job at caregiving, then anyone will learn something from it. THANKS ALOT MRS. MONAHAN!!

A book for every household.

Great Book. No question I had went un-answered. I would recommend this book to everyone. I am caring for an elderly parent and we both read it. Together we found useful information for my mother's care and it helps us work together towards her recooperation. Good Health & Physical fitness is something we should all read up on.
