About the Author
Stan Fulham was born in western Canada in 1923 when the railway linked the people, materials, and livestock of a young, fast growing nation.
As a child, Fulham watched and listened to a fascinating variety of characters as they paraded through the railway station, French army officers in search of cavalry horses, horse traders from the "Big Smokes", and "card-sharpes" from the east in search of easy poker money. Fulham listened to their lively talks with awe and wonder.
The wealth and diversity of these early experiences stirred his interest in their exciting world. As a teenager he 'rode the rods' (freight trains) to the harvest fields of Saskatchewan and Alberta, where he met and was greatly influenced by the hero of this novel - Bronc Coleman.
On his 18th birthday, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He served in Bomber Command, was shot down, wounded, and taken prisoner-of-war. He experienced the cold and starving winter of 1944-1945 and a brutal forced march in the final months of the war.
He joined a merchant ship and sailed for two years to the South Pacific Islands, Australia, and South America in search of new challenges. He then returned to the Air Force from which he retired in 1970.
He also worked with aboriginal groups, writing a successful book on aboriginal economic development entitled "In Search of a Future".

'CAPTTIVATING ACCURATE HISTORICAL NOSTALGIA"
By DAVID G. FULLER
EACH CHAPTER IS IT'S OWN STORY CLEVERLY LEADING YOU TO THE NEXT TO SEE WHERE IT LEADS AND WHAT HAPPENS TO ALL THE CHARACTERS. IT WAS VERY HARD TO PUT DOWN AND NOT HARD TO GET BACK TO AS YOU LOOKED FORWARD TO LEARNING MORE ABOUT BRONC AND WISPAH. VERY WELL WRITTEN BY AN EXCELLENT AUTHOR WHO OBVIOUSLY DID A GOOD DEAL OF RESEARCH ON THE LIFE AND TIMES OF PEOPLE LIVING IN NORTH AMERICA IN THE TWENTIES AND THIRTIES.. I SHALL RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND I AM CONFIDENT THEY WILL ALL ENJOY IT AS I DID... GREAT WRITING. DAVID G. FULLER
